Kate Christensen was born in 1962 and is a graduate of Reed College and the Iowa Writers Workshop. She is the author of five novels, most recentlyTrouble. Her previous book, The Great Man, won the 2008 PEN/Faulkner Award. Her first three novels novels are In the DrinkJeremy Thrane, andThe Epicure’s Lament. Christensen’s essays and articles have appeared in various publications including The New York Times Book Review,BookforumSalon, Mademoiselle, The Hartford Courant, ElleTin House,and the best-selling anthology The Bitch in the House.

Christensen plays viola and sings, and lives in New York City. She is currently at work on a new novel, The Astral.
