Key West Literary Seminar

2008 Scholarships Announced!

| |
We are pleased to announce the recipients of the three named scholarships for the 2008 session, New Voices. We look forward to seeing all the winners in January.

Of course, awards are always somewhat arbitrary and ultimately just a matter of taste, and the selection process this year was especially difficult-there were many, many excellent candidates. And lest it seem like damning with faint praise to mention the runner-ups, they will be invited to read at the Seminar!

Joyce Horton Johnson Fiction Award

Winner:  Mehdi Okasi
Runner-Up:  Nami Mun

Marianne Russo Scholarship

Winner:  Kristen-Paige Madonia
Runner-Up:  Katherine Schaefer

Scotti Merrill Memorial Scholarship

Winner:  Nancy Pearson
Runner-Up:  Jacqueline LaMon

The journal of the Key West Literary Seminar features recordings from our audio archives, exclusive interviews, essays, news about the Seminar, and dispatches from Key West's literary past and present. It is created by Arlo Haskell. Send email to arlo [at] kwls [dot] org

Each January, we explore a different literary theme through lectures, panel presentations, readings, informal gatherings, and discussions. In January 2011, we explore food in literature with our 29th annual Seminar, THE HUNGRY MUSE.
