Key West Literary Seminar

Pre-Seminar Discussion

| |
diaz-orourke.jpgIt would appear that two of the panelists from the upcoming Seminar have started a discussion already. Earlier this month, Slate literary
editor and New Voices panelist Megan O'Rourke interviewed fellow 2008
panelist Junot Diaz about his new novel, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. Here's an excerpt: "In
my mind the book was supposed to take the shape of an archipelago; it
was supposed to be a textual Caribbean. Shattered and yet somehow
holding together, somehow incredibly vibrant and compelling."

The journal of the Key West Literary Seminar features recordings from our audio archives, exclusive interviews, essays, news about the Seminar, and dispatches from Key West's literary past and present. It is created by Arlo Haskell. Send email to arlo [at] kwls [dot] org

Each January, we explore a different literary theme through lectures, panel presentations, readings, informal gatherings, and discussions. In January 2011, we explore food in literature with our 29th annual Seminar, THE HUNGRY MUSE.
