Patricia O'Toole

Patricia O'Toole is the author of four books, including two biographies: When Trumpets Call: Theodore Roosevelt after the White House and The Five of Hearts: An Intimate Portrait of Henry Adams and His Friends, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, a National Book Critics Circle Award, and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. As a journalist, essayist, and reviewer, she has contributed to Time, The American Scholar, Smithsonian, The Wilson Quarterly, and many other publications. She teaches literary nonfiction in the MFA program at Columbia University and serves on the advisory board of the New York University Biography Seminar. At the moment she is working on a book about Woodrow Wilson in war and peace.
