As noted earlier, Junot Díaz is totally blowing up. In a March Madness-inspired "Tournament of Books" played out on the courts of The Morning News, Díaz’s The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao has survived three rounds and the "zombie round" to make it into the final bracket, where he faces Tom McCarthy’s Remainder. This is terrific literary fun. I didn’t tune in until this weekend, when the semifinals were already underway, and I won’t spoil it now that the final match has been resolved. See it for yourself here.
When you’re through, listen to our podcast of Junot Díaz reading from The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, during our 2008 Seminar: New Voices.
