Oates, Lethem, Whitehead in Audio Archive

Yet Another World - Key West Literary Seminar

Three recordings from our 2012 seminar, “Yet Another World,” are now up in our audio archives.

Listen to Joyce Carol Oates read “San Quentin,” a short story based on her experience teaching English at San Quentin State Prison and discuss “the drama of human personality” that drives her work as a storyteller; Jonathan Lethem’s “plate-spinning act,” “The True and the Real”; and Colson Whitehead’s hilarious “Departing the Zone.”

More recordings coming soon. Subscribe to KWLS podcasts with iTunes.

  1. Peter Ginsberg says:

so good to see that you are making these recordings available. Even better to see them available as podcasts on ITunes. Thanks!!! Peter

  2. My notes for the Friday afternoon panel (the difference between the true and the real)involving Rivka Golchien, Janna Levin, and Jonathan Lethem, include this quote:

“Fiction lives in the gestures of protest against the script we are handed.”

Does anyone know who said that. My guess is Rivka, but I’m not sure.
