Our Writer-in-Residence Program aims to support emerging writers in the production of compelling literary work by providing short-term housing in Key West. Four to six residency periods of one to four weeks each are available every year from March through November.
Potential writers-in-residence should submit a concise narrative proposal to include: resumé of past accomplishments; statement of current projects; proposed focus for residency; references; and contact information. Please mail your proposal to us the old-fashioned way, using the address below, and include sample publications or works-in-progress that may strengthen your proposal. Be sure to keep an electronic copy of your proposal; we may request an additional copy by email. Both emerging and established authors are invited to submit proposals, though our emphasis is on emerging writers.
Housing is provided in a private, fully furnished, upstairs apartment, part of our small compound on Love Lane in old town Key West, next-door to the library and within walking distance of all the basic requirements: food, drink, movies, and ocean. No funding is available for travel or living expenses. More information is available upon request.
Mail proposals to: W-I-R c/o Arlo Haskell, Key West Literary Seminar, 718 Love Lane, Key West, Florida, 33040. Please mark package “do not forward.”
