Campbell McGrath

Campbell McGrath has spent the past thirty years transforming his life into poetry. He is the author of twelve full-length collections, most recently Fever of Unknown Origin (2023) and Nouns & Verbs: New and Selected Poems (2019). His collection XX: Poems for the Twentieth Century was a finalist for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize. His work has appeared in scores of literary journals and anthologies, as well as the New YorkerAtlanticHarper’s, and the New York Times. He has also translated Aristophanes, written two librettos for experimental operas with the composer Orlando Garcia, and played in a punk rock band.

McGrath’s writing has been recognized with some of the most prestigious awards in American letters, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Witter Bynner Fellowship from the Library of Congress, a United States Artists Fellowship, and a MacArthur Foundation “Genius Award.” He lives with his wife in Miami Beach, and teaches in the MFA program at Florida International University.
